The Presets
The Teenagers
French synthpop band The Teenagers played the Oxford Art Factory on the weekend.
Highlight – the band inviting up more girls than could possibly fit on the tiny stage to help them blast out controversial tune Homecoming.
Lowlight – beer-drenched camera.
!!! (Chk Chk Chk)
On the last night of the long weekend, I went along to the Metro to see !!! (Chk Chk Chk). Overall, they seemed a little more subdued than the last time I saw them (possibly because they’d only just played We Love Sounds the day before), but vocalist Nic Offer was still energetic as hell.
They were supported by Lost Valentinos.
Bonde do RolĂȘ
After a few musically-quiet weeks, I went to check out Brazilian baile-funk band Bonde do RolĂȘ play last night at the Forum over at Fox Studios.
It was an awesome show. They’re a party band to the extreme, with frenetic on-stage action – I lost count of the number of times I had to dodge drinks (from both on and off-stage), inflatable penguins flying into the back of my head as they were tossed around in the crowd, as well as various members of the band leaping down into the photo pit to jump into the audience.
They’ll be in Sydney for the weekend, playing the We Love Sounds festival.
