Rand & Holland
Rand & Holland played an intimate show at the Workshop Showroom in St Peters on saturday night. They were supported by the ethereal Seaworthy, and our good friends, The Desks.
It was one of the most relaxing shows I’ve been to in a while, with a very comfortable, backyard house party vibe (complete with esky-cooled beer and the organiser’s pet dogs greeting punters at the door).

Popcorn Taxi | The Square
This week, Popcorn Taxi showcased new Australian film The Square, a crime thriller written by Joel Edgerton (recognisable for his prolific acting work in many a local production as well as notable international ones such as the Star Wars prequels), and directed by his brother Nash (an Australian film industry veteran, involved in seemingly every single production ever mounted in this country if you go by his IMDB listing).
Also there to talk about the film were producer Louise Smith and editor Luke Doolan.
They came well-prepared, with a DVD containing deleted scenes, animatics, shot tests and even a “mood” trailer that they’d cut using shots from dozens of other films when they were in the planning stages. The film opens in a couple of weeks time.
Cafe Ish
Cafe Ish, Surry Hills.
Super-delicious, lovely people.

A Forest Of Lines
Last night, the concert hall of the Sydney Opera House was transformed for Pierre Huyghe’s A Forest Of Lines. It was magical.

Fratelli Paradiso
I’ve been working some ridiculous hours lately, and most of my weekends have vanished as our deadline looms – so it was good to take a bit of time out to have breakfast at Fratelli Paradiso in Potts Point on sunday. We don’t usually traverse that way in search of new food haunts (we generally gravitate Surry Hills or Newtown-wards), but this place has been on LTL’s radar for a while now. The visit was short, but sweet – it’s been marked down for further dinner investigation.
